All physicians must have residency training in a particular medical specialty, and many practicing physicians go on to specialize in a particular area of medicine.
You need not drive 50 miles and more to receive treatment from a highly competent specialist. You can meet with them on our campus at Glen Rose Medical Center’s Specialty Clinic — fulfilling our pledge to provide stay-at-home medicine.
If you are concerned about how to choose a specialist, here are some suggestions:
• Seek recommendations from your
primary care physician
• Ask family and friends for opinions
concerning physicians they have seen
• Set an appointment and talk to a particular
specialist to become confident in his or her
experience with the needed treatments
or procedures.
In some cases, your insurance coverage will play a
role whereby you may first be required to have a referral from your primary care physician. However, in cases of elective surgery or less invasive procedures, you may be able to self-refer.
Your GRMC specialist will see you in one of our
two convenient Specialty Clinic locations.
