As you’ll see when you “flip through” our photo album, we like to stay busy at Glen Rose Nursing and Rehab Center. Our active social calendar draws its energy from the creative services of not one, but two activities directors, and our energetic volunteers.
Even though it isn’t required, our Nursing Home employs its own registered dietitian, more Registered Nurses than the average nursing home, in addition to L.V.N.s, a social worker and a nursing director and medical director.
To better accommodate a waiting list of patients, Glen Rose Medical Center constructed an additional Nursing & Rehab wing in 2000 enabling a total of 118 residents to become a part of our family. These Medicare, Medicaid and private pay rooms provide skilled nursing on a long-term basis or for short recuperative stays. Dementia patients endangered by wandering are safe within a specially secured unit.
Our social worker makes the Nursing Center transition as easy and comfortable as possible. Quarterly we meet with each resident and family to develop and review a personal care plan that addresses concerns and preferences including the most appropriate diet for the patient.
All meals are specially prepared for each resident taking into account desires as well as requirements for salt, sugar and fat intake. When needed, protein supplements are added to mashed potatoes, soups and puddings. Residents needing to gain weight may receive double portions. And if chewing becomes difficult, foods are chopped, ground or pureed.
If our residents experience depression and difficulty adjusting to life changes, they may — if Medicare Part B is in place — be admitted to our Senior Care partial hospitalization program at Glen Rose Medical Center — made easy by our Continuum of Care. The goal for each patient is to restore that individual to his or her highest level of functioning and independence.
One convenience pointed to again and again by our residents and their families is the ease by which we provide access to all forms of medical care. A short stroll or wheelchair ride through the medical center brings everything from lab tests to rehabilitation services under one roof.
