Bring your iPod or mp3 player, lie down, get still and relax for 20 minutes or so — you're going to be inSPECTed! Single-Proton Emission Computerized Tomography (SPECT) is now an in-house capability at Glen Rose Medical Center.
The brief version (and the understandable one) of what will happen is this: radiotracer materials will be injected into your body that are designed to go to a specific organ, such as the heart, where they will provide feedback to photon sensitive cameras which further provide diagnostic images. A technician remains with you throughout the procedure; your only job is to lie still. Pregnant women are the only patients ineligible for this test.
Our licensed and specialized nuclear medicine technicians have expertise in the diagnostic utilization of nuclear properties. Annually, the State of Texas
examines our equipment and staff
credentials before relicensing.
