Glen Rose Medical Center brings you a Resource Links and a Health Quiz gleaned from our research of medical journals and Internet sources.
First, find out what you know about cholesterol (a major risk factor for heart attacks) by taking the Cholesterol Quiz developed by the American Heart Association:
Cholesterol Quiz
If your cholesterol is high, do you have to take medication? Find out now.
Then click here: Risk Assessment Tool for Estimating Your 10-year Risk of
Having a Heart Attack
It’s an easy-to-use tool developed by the National Cholesterol Education Program.
It was designed for you if you are an adult 20 years of age or older who does not have
heart disease or diabetes.
To find your risk score, enter your information in the “calculator” and click on
“Calculate Your 10-Year Risk.”
If you do not have the information requested, call your primary care physician.
If you have taken a cholesterol test in the past several years, that information (along
with your blood pressure) will be available from your records. If you are overdue for a
cholesterol check, make an appointment to have one. Truly, in the fight against heart
disease, knowledge is your power.
The Resource Links we have provided below are by no means an exhaustive list. And we do not guarantee that their information is always accurate. However, we do find these 100 sites to be a quick source for useful information.
While you can become a better informed patient, still it is wise to consult a physician on any matter related to your health — physical or mental.
