Glen Rose Medical Center is happy to show off two new passenger vans used for patient transport. Some of you may have seen the vans around Glen Rose and surrounding communities.
The vans were made possible by a matching grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture, State Office of Rural Health and funds donated by the Dr. Roger E. Marks Healthcare Foundation, United Fund of Somervell County and the Glen Rose Lions Club. To qualify for the grant, funds had to be raised to match the grant amount.
The Dr. Roger E. Marks Healthcare Foundation held their first annual golf tournament in November of 2016 with a lofty goal of raising $25,000. With word out to other organizations the Glen Rose Lions Club and United Fund of Somervell County immediately responded with monetary commitments for any shortfall of the $25,000 goal which was necessary to qualify for the matching grant.
The golf tournament was successful in raising more than half the needed funds necessary to qualify for the grant. The Glen Rose Lions Club and United Fund of Somervell County were ready to contribute the balance needed to make the vans a reality and benefit area patients.
Glen Rose Medical Center is so appreciative of the hard work and generosity of the Dr. Roger E. Marks Healthcare Foundation, Glen Rose Lions Club and United Fund of Somervell County.
